When I got a call from Dan Sultan, asking if I’d like to illustrate the album cover for his first kids album, Nali and Friends, what could I say other than “Hell yeah”! 

One of my biggest loves is music, so to combine music with illustration was a dream project!

Dan wrote the album with filmmaker Rhys Graham, after their travels through Uganda and Kenya working with The Thin Green Line Foundation, an organisation supporting Wildlife Rangers.

The album follows Nali, an arctic tern with a crooked wing, as she flies around the world on her migratory journey, meeting animals who, like her, are a little bit different!

I worked with Dan & Rhys to develop the visuals for the world they invented. I illustrated 12 original characters, and designed the album cover and packaging.

The album went on to win the ARIA award for Best Children’s album
